Malta’s largest events venue, the Malta Fairs and Convention Centre (MFCC), has been accepted as a new member of Meeting Professionals International (MPI). This leading trade association for the meeting and incentive travel industry has over 23,000 members in 65 countries, and is dedicated to improving business through education and networking.
MFCC’s international business development manager, Romwald Lungaro-Mifsud, teamed up with MPI at London’s International Confex this February (2008), helping on the association’s exhibition stand, while establishing and renewing international ties with fellow sector professionals.
Lungaro-Mifsud joined MFCC in 2007, drawing on over 30 years experience at the top levels of the MICE and hospitality markets, to develop the new venue’s international meeting, incentive and conference business.
Commenting on his first event with MPI he said: “Confex International was a very buoyant show this year. Working with MPI on their stand proved to be very interesting and effective. Their seminars were well attended and informative, and I will definitely be attending the MPI European Meetings and Events Conference this April, in London.
“The MFCC venue has greatly increased the capacity for conferences and meetings on Malta. The new team is creating events and experiences to the highest of international standards. Working with MPI at Confex has been a great way to ‘realign’ perceptions of what can be done on Malta.
“For the first time on Malta we have the venue, the air-seat capacity (through our close relations with Air Malta) and the number of 5-star hotels to accommodate MICE events for 4,000 plus delegates.”
