A year of educational and social activity has been announced for members of the MPI UK Chapter, which it claims underlines “the chapter’s mantra of insight, inspiration and personal and professional development”.

“The meetings industry is entering a really tough period and the role of associations such as MPI UK Chapter will play an important part in sharing experience, passing on best practice and generally aiding the industry,” said the chapter’s president, Mandy Torrens. “This years’ programme combines the best experience and leadership sessions with the right amount of social and networking interaction for our members.”

Educational highlights include a panel debate on how professionals ‘Survived the last Recession’ (18 November), ‘Creating Energy & Success’ (8 January 2009), ‘Unlocking Your Creativity’ (Confex: 24-26 February) and ‘Generation X&Y Delegates’ (18 May).

These events will stand alongside social calendar events, such as the Christmas Social & Networking event (8 December) and the Summer Social (June 2009).

“Every aspect of the educational programme has been pulled together with the four main areas our members wanted us to focus on,” explained Dawn French, educational chair at the MPI UK Chapter. “The Insight Series, passing on valuable case studies and experiences; inspirational speakers that motivate and empower; professional development to train and better ourselves; and personal Development’, passing on transferable skills and sharing the latest techniques and learning”.

The educational programme will take place in venues across the UK to reflect the growing membership that the chapter has outside London.
