The events industry organisation Eventia has teamed up with The Carbon Consultancy to offer its members access to accurate carbon calculators for travel plus a comprehensive guide to offsetting.

The carbon calculator will enable meeting planners to see how much carbon dioxide is emitted by flights, train or car travel to a destination using different classes of travel, aircraft and airlines.

A web service available through the organisation saves data and delivers online reports for users, enabling budgeting and management of emissions. It is fully IATA coded and designed for use by tour operators, travel management companies, online travel providers and corporate clients.

The site also offers details of several organisations through which carbon can be offset when it cannot be reduced.  There is also information on the different choices available, such as rainforest protection or wind power generation, plus a Q&A to help guide organisations through the decision-making process.
