Although yet to be completed, the Convention Centre, Dublin (CCD) has secured yet another major international conference. The International Statistical Institute (ISI) will be holding its biannual session at the venue in August, 2011.

This major conference will use all of the meeting and exhibition facilities at the CCD and up to 3,000 delegates are expected to attend the five-day conference.

Paul J Crowley, head of international relations at the Central Statistics Office and project manager for the conference, said: “As the hosts for staging this major world conference, it was very important that we selected the right venue for both Ireland and for the ISI. A strict tendering process was used and the interview panel was very impressed with the facilities and the operational management of the CCD. We are looking forward to working with the CCD team to ensure that the conference is a major success.”

Commenting on securing the event, Nick Waight, chief executive of the CCD, said: “We are thrilled that the CCD has been chosen to stage this important international conference and we are looking forward to working with the Central Statistics Office team and MCI-Europe, to produce a memorable conference for the delegates.”

Established in 1885, the International Statistics Institute (ISI) is one of the oldest scientific associations operating in the modern world. Its success can be attributed to the increasing worldwide demand for professional statistical information, its leadership in the development of statistical methods and their application, and in the collective dedication of its members.
