Visitors to International Confex 2008 will be given a first-look at The Convention Centre, Dublin (CCD), set to open in 2010.

Delegates will be given the opportunity to learn more about the cutting-edge CCD, combining the award-winning management experience of The International Convention Centre, Birmingham with the dynamic and vibrant location of Dublin's Spencer Dock.

Landmark event: The Convention Centre, Dublin, due to open in 2010

Characterised by its iconic architecture and stunning location on the banks of the River Liffey, the striking seven-story glass-fronted atrium – a key architectural feature in the development – has been reproduced on the double-deck stand (B640).

With 22 flexible conference spaces, which can accommodate up to 8,000 delegates, the CCD also boasts a state-of-the-art 2,000-seat auditorium and fully serviced 4,500m2 exhibition space, with the ability to simultaneously banquet for 3,000 people.

The CCD is also significantly investing in the latest AV and communications technology, which will position it as one of the leading technological venues in Europe. Furthermore, careful consideration has been given to environmental impact – carbon-neutral concrete has been used in the venue’s construction and  a district heating system has been installed.

The NEC Group's managing director of Convention Centres, Nick Waight, who has been appointed chief executive of the CCD said: "In providing our operational and managerial experience to The CCD, our key objective is to offer a first-class conference experience at a world-class venue in the vibrant, exciting city of Dublin.

"We will use our expertise to help the Dublin-based team deliver the highest-quality levels of customer service and experience when the doors open on 1 September 2010."

"One of the major benefits of the link between the ICC, Birmingham and the CCD is that our team can begin booking and planning events, and I am delighted that Catherine Newhall-Caiger has been appointed the director of international sales for both venues. Confex is the perfect platform for us to showcase what this new venue has to offer."

Representatives from the ICC and the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) will also be present on the stand, offering information on the latest developments at the Birmingham venues, including new conferencing suites at the NEC.

Visitors to the stand can enter a Nintendo Wii tournament, with daily highest-scorers able to take home one of the games consoles. The overall winner will also scoop a two-night stay at the Ritz Carlton Powerscourt Hotel, County Wicklow, and £200 towards travel expenses.

International Confex takes place at London's Earls Court on 12-14 February
