The UK's largest event caterer and provider of corporate hospitality
packages, Sodexo Prestige, has secured a prestigious contract to
provide exclusive conference, banqueting and visitor catering services
at London's historic Southwark Cathedral.
In addition to
catering and hospitality services, Sodexo Prestige will be providing
sales and marketing support to the Cathedral's conference centre, which
includes five conference rooms of varying capacity and the Millennium
Courtyard which can be used for events for up to 400 people.
The
contract, which begins in May, will see Sodexo Prestige introduce a
daily great British breakfast, traditional Sunday lunches and a new
bistro-style menu in the visitor restaurant, as well as a new coffee
kiosk outside the Cathedral, facing the famous Borough Market.
"We
are extremely proud to have been awarded such a prestigious contract
for a unique and historic venue in central London,” said Jason
Richards, head of business development at Sodexo Prestige. “The
Cathedral is steeped in history and we have devised an innovative offer
to complement the surroundings having also given a commitment to
purchase our core ingredients from neighbouring Borough Market."
Commenting
on the new agreement, The Very Reverend Colin Slee, the Dean of
Southwark, said: "The Southwark Cathedral site stands in the long
tradition of Augustinian monastic hospitality and has historically
played host to feasting. We welcome Sodexo Prestige into this tradition
and look forward to working together to ensure we provide all our
visitors with an excellent and enjoyable service."
