A gathering of international experts in the fields of national heritage, human development and the environment will take place in Vila Nova de Foz Côa, Portugal, from 6-10 May 2008 for the Heritage 2008 International Conference.
Organised by the GreenLine Institute for International Development, the event will feature keynote speakers, including Professor Frank Matero of the University of Pennsilvania, Professor Tomislav Sola of the University of Zagreb and
Professor Gregory Ashworth of Gronigen University.
High-level attendance at the conference will include Portuguese President Cavaco Silva and Prime Minister José Socrates, as well as the Ministers for Culture and Tourism, and the Portuguese Ambassador to UNESCO.
Vila Nova de Foz Coa was chosen as the town lies near two UNESCO Heritage Sites, the archaeological park in Vale da Côa and the landscape of the Douro vineyards.
