More than 200 Shropshire guests had their awards ceremony rescued at the last minute, recently, after flooding threatened to ruin their big night.

Telford & Wrekin Primary Care Trust had been due to hold the event at Enginuity in Ironbridge, but the severe weather conditions closed the venue.

So The International Centre (TIC), Telford, stepped in with just hours to go, and the event was moved.

“We were contacted by Telford & Shropshire Conferences on the morning of the event to see if we could host the awards ceremony in place of Enginuity,” said TIC Head of Sales, Dominic Fleming. “Luckily we had a room available, and despite the short notice, and with just three hours to set the room up for 225 people, our team were able to pull out all the stops and ensure the event went ahead successfully.”

Niamh Kelly of Telford & Wrekin PCT was delighted the event was able to go ahead. “We are very grateful to The International Centre for accommodating our event at such short notice,” she said. “The evening was a great success, and our delegates were really happy.”

Meanwhile, Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust’s Kerrie Davies commented: “It was great that The International Centre acted so quickly and that they were able to come to the rescue to ensure our client had a fantastic event after all.”
